Cease fire and a Lose, lose, lose situation.
Recently I sat through the most juvenile conversation regarding the cease fire which the United Nations apparently brokered between Hezbollah and
Such a conversation is much like little kiddies judging a playground fight and afterwards shouting their opinions as to who they thought won the little playground battle.
Lately the Muslim world has demonstrated a propensity for child like behavior. The cartoon wars, where Muslims threw a world-wide tantrum regarding editorializing the fact that Islam can be equated to violence any day of the week. So what was the Islamic response to the editorials? VIOLENCE! Weeks of rioting which made the world pause to ask the question – Just which century are we in and has fire been discovered yet?
Immediately after cessation of major conflict in the war Hezbollah declared itself the victor because it was “still standing, it was still here” against a superior Israeli force. So according to Hezbollah because they are able to hide among civilians and successfully elude the Israeli army they win! A very hollow victory I think especially when a terrorist group has the backing of two terrorist regimes,
But not to be out done President Bush declared
However, this was no war pitting Hezbollah against
Independent Arab and Jewish States and the Special International Regime for the City of Jerusalem, set forth in Part III of this Plan, shall come into existence in Palestine two months after the evacuation of the armed forces of the mandatory Power has been completed but in any case not later than 1 October 1948. The boundaries of the Arab State, the Jewish State, and the City of Jerusalem shall be as described in Parts II and III below.U.N. Security Council Resolution,`November 29, 1947
Arabs continue to misrepresent the facts calling
Therefore the Arab’s beef is with the U.N. and that U.N. decision. It always has been but Israel has taken the brunt of 59 years of Arab unwillingness to accept the fact that world spoke in unison in 1947 and divide this disputed land between Arabs and Jews.
So here my assessment of the current situation I see it as a lose, lose, lose, lose situation.
First
The U.N. in 2004 resolved in Security Council Resolution 1559 that in
So in spite of Hezbollah’s and President Bush’s claim that they win neither side wins there is really loss! Enough to go around, loss to make one remember that adage, “An eye for an eye will make both parties blind.”
And apparently so does a win-win in this situation!
