When Anti-war really is Anti-America

Rosa Brooks’ opinion piece for the Los Angeles Times entitled - Antiwar Wackadoos Are Winning- relishes in the fact that more Americans are demanding that our government bring home our troops.(Click on title above)

Notice that I didn’t say end the war, that’s because I learned a very long time ago that if your mother demands that you stop fighting someone else had better be in control of the other person in the fight or they will continue to fight until they are restrained or until they are finished with you.

I got into a fight once as a kid right in front of my house. My mom came out of the house and demanded that I immediately stop fighting. Ever obedient I stopped but the other kid who didn’t especially feel beholden to my mom kept right on going needless to say I was beaten to a pulp until someone standing by pulled the kid off of me. Dinner was quite that night.

In 1988 Soloman Rushdie published a novel entitled –Satanic Verses- you may remember it. Muslims took offense at it and India banned the book on October 5; South Africa banned it on November 24. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Bangladesh, Sudan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Qatar followed within weeks. The book was ceremonially burned in Bradford, England, on January 14, 1989. On February 12, five people were killed by police gunfire during a protest in Islamabad.

On February 14, 1989, a fatwa promising his execution was proclaimed on Radio Tehran by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of Iran, calling his book "blasphemous against Islam." Furthermore, Khomeini condemned Rushdie for the crime of "apostasy"—attempting to abandon the Islamic faith— which according to the Hadith is punishable by death.

On February 24, Khomeini placed a three-million-U.S. dollar bounty for the death of Rushdie. Rushdie was forced to live for a time under British-financed security.

At the University of California at Berkeley, bookstores carrying the book were firebombed. On February 24 in Bombay, 5 people in a protest at the British Embassy died from police gunfire. Several other people died in Egypt and elsewhere. Muslim communities throughout the world held public rallies in which copies of the book were burned. In 1991, Rushdie's Japanese translator, Hitoshi Igarashi, was stabbed and killed in Tokyo, and his Italian translator was beaten and stabbed in Milan. In 1993, Rushdie's Norwegian publisher William Nygaard was shot and severely injured in an attack outside his house in Oslo. Thirty-seven guests died when their hotel in Sivas, Turkey was burnt down by locals protesting against Aziz Nesin, Rushdie's Turkish translator.

In early 2005, Khomeini's fatwa against Rushdie was reaffirmed by Iran's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a message to Muslim pilgrims making the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. In response to requests to withdraw the fatwa, Iran has stated that only the person who issued it may withdraw it; Khomeini, however, died in 1989.

Soloman Rushdie is in hiding today, 2006. My point is this, all of the anti-war bringing the troops home, Cindy Sheehan campouts at camp Casey will not end the war.

Contrary to popular thought this is not Bush’s war this war was declared on the United States of America in 1996 and reissued in 1998 by Osama bin Laden under President William Jefferson Clinton and if all indications are correct Islamic Fascists will not stop when America cut and runs or withdraw troops or stop fighting.

Actually we tried that in Somalia and bin Laden said that is the main reason that he believes Islam will defeat America because in his words America is a paper tiger. Islamic fascist will continue to war against America until they have conquered America following the 1996 and 1998 fatwas there is no turning back for them!

If America truly wishes for peace there are only two options, one stop fighting and give in to Islamic Fascism or defeat this threat completely now.

Do not be deceived peace is not the absence of war; peace is the absence of hate.

Islam has spawned hate through Islamic fascism and Islamic fascism has proven to be a religion of hatred of the Jews, Christians, the British and Americans so to simply stop fighting is not the answer. That suggestion is a simplistic bandage for a malignant malady against humanity. As it is with all malignancies you don’t just stop fighting against them you attempt to defeat them.

If not you simply go home to await your fate that is what anti-war advocates would have America to do. Just stop and wait peacefully to go quietly into submission.

Finally, again this war is not a frivolous “Bush’s war.” This war started before President Bush took office and if Islamic Fascists are not defeated they will not stop until America is defeated therefore being Anti-war in this case is Anti-America because Islam's mandate is to defeat (bring under submission) all other civilazations, that means America too!

Being Anti-American is what anti-war advocates are suggesting whether they are aware of it or not.
