Is Radical Christianity just as threatening as Radical Islam?

According to Rosie O’Donnell it is, but what are the facts? For comparison sake Christians are instructed by the bible to go and teach the world about Christ with the hope that all who hear will willingly give their lives to God.

In Islam as report by hadith Book 019, Number 4293: narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Aun and the name of Juwairiya bint al-Harith was mentioned beyond any doubt.

…Fight against those who disbelieve in Allah. Make a holy war… When you meet your enemies who are polytheists, invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them. Then invite them to migrate from their lands to the land of Muhairs and inform them that, if they do so, they shall have all the privileges and obligations of the Muhajirs. If they refuse to migrate, tell them that they will have the status of Bedouin Muilims and will be subjected to the Commands of Allah like other Muslims, but they will not get any share from the spoils of war or Fai' except when they actually fight with the Muslims (against the disbelievers). If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them…

In comparison there is no written law or encouragement in Christianity that justifies war (other than spiritual war).

It is reported that 90% of the wars that are presently being waged in the world today is because of Islam. The war that the U.S. is presently engaged in is a war of a secular government against Islamic terrorism.

As recently as in August 2006 two kidnapped Western journalists who were freed in the Gaza Strip were forced at gunpoint to convert to Islam and at times roughly treated during their two-week abduction.

"We were forced to convert to Islam at gunpoint," Steve Centanni, an American reporter for the US Fox News television network told CNN by telephone from Gaza City Sunday.

There is nothing in Christianity that compares to gunpoint conversions, beheadings, honor killings, jihads or fatwas’.

Christians do not feel compelled to kill someone who has insulted their religion or if someone insults Jesus Christ a Christian typically will not riot and threaten to kill.

And please don’t bring up the Middle Ages or the Inquisitions, the pogroms, the Crusades or the any of the non sequiturs that are usually brought up to attempt to justify Rosie’s over the top statement regarding Christians being comparable to Muslims.

Rosie was referring to her own internalized hatred of Christianity that has nothing to do with reality, Christians or what Christianity really is. To Rosie Christian prayer, bible study and witnessing about one’s belief in God is as radical as using children as suicide bombers, forced conversion by gun point, beheading people who you take as hostages and declaring war against America in the name of Allah.

If Rosie and people who think like her can’t see the difference between radical
Christianity and radical Islam then sadly she and people like her are the wide-eyed radical fanatics not the Christians that they so perceive!

I do agree wholeheartedly with your opinion on this subject. Although there are some "Christians" in Kansas City that are just way off base, and don't know Jesus. The ones who've been picketing soldier's funerals. Although I know they are a super small minority, they give Christians and Christianity a bad name. I don't believe they know Jesus. I appreciate what you're doing here. Have a great day and God bless. :-) James
